Houston at Wichita State Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/2/23

The Wichita State Shockers will host the Houston Cougars in AAC action from the Charles Koch Arena on ESPN2. Houston and Wichita were former rivals in the MVC, and the Cougars hold a slim series lead of, 18-17.

Houston improved to 20-2 after beating Cincinnati at home. The Cougars trailed the Bearcats at the break, but a strong second half would push them to a six-point victory. Houston is scoring 75.4 points per game, while allowing 54.9 ppg, and shooting 47.1% from the field.

Houston evaded another disaster at home and tacked on a quality win along the way with the win over Cincy, and they’ll look to keep their winning ways going here in Kansas. The Cougars are 8-1 in AAC play, with a 6-0 record on the road this season. Marcus Sasser will look to respond to a quiet outing versus Cincy, but he leads the Cougs in scoring at 16.2 ppg. Defensive stud Tramon Mark (9.3 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and veteran guard Jamal Shead (9.1 ppg, 5.2 apg) join him in the backcourt. Freshman Jarace Walker played a huge role in the win over the Bearcats with a season-high 25 points, and he’s now second on the team in both scoring (11.1) and rebounding (6.5).
