Houston at Memphis – 3/5/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Memphis Tigers will host the Houston Cougars in AAC play from the FedEx Forum on CBS. The Houston/Memphis has grown in the marquee matchup in the American Conference, and the Tigers lead the all-time series, 35-22.

Houston improved to 28-2 following a home win over Wichita State. The Cougars would pull away from the Shockers in the second half to win their home finale by seventeen, 83-68. Houston is scoring 76.3 points per game, while allowing 56.2 ppg, and shooting 47.1% from the field. 

Houston tacked on their tenth win in a row since falling to Temple by a single point, and they’ll look to avoid an upset here in Memphis. The Cougars are 16-1 in AAC play, with a 10-0 road record. Senior guard Marcus Sasser has scored 20 points or more in each of the last six games, and he’s up a team-lead 17.3 ppg. Freshman forward Jarace Walker grabbed 13 boards in the recent win over Tulane, and he’s second on the team in scoring (11.1) and rebounding (6.7). Veteran point guard Jamal Shead went off for a season-high 25 points in the win over Wichita, and he’s averaging 9.7 ppg and a team-lead 5.3 apg. Third-year Cougs Tramon Mark (9.8 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and J’Wan Roberts (10.8 ppg, 7.3 rpg) round out the starting five.
