Jesse Winker has been slashing so far in August to say the least hitting .313 with two home runs already. He and the Mariners get the Yankees and Jameson Taillon in the middle of a road trip after getting swept by the Cardinals in St. Louis.
The Yankees seem to be letting the dog days of the season get the best of them and the Mariners are looking to take advantage. Winker is 4-14 with a home run off Taillon in his career and hit a grand slam to help pick up a win over the Angels yesterday.
Taillon has been struggling as of late allowing five earned runs and two home runs in 4.2 innings in his last start against these Mariners at home. In total, Taillon has a 4.47 road ERA allowing eight home runs in 46.1 innings pitched coming out to a home run allowed eve ry five and a half innings pitched.
