The Xavier Musketeers ran into a stellar Duke defense on Friday night and dropped 71-64 game to the Blue Devils. The loss dropped the Musketeers to 4-2 on the season and prevented them from earning a trip to the Phil Knight Legacy Tournament title game. Xavier was held to just two points over the final five minutes of the game. Souley Boum led the way with 23 points but Duke held Xavier's leading scorer, Jack Nudge, to just five points on 1-of-13 shooting.

“Jack played a great effort. He really did. He was ready for the game. He just had one of those nights where the ball didn’t go in the basket,” Xavier coach Sean Miller said.

Heading into the Duke game, Xavier had the 19th most efficient offense in college basketball and the 75th most efficient defense. Against the Blue Devils, they looked disjointed with only nine assists in the game to go along with 15 turnovers. The Musketeers also shot just 38% on offense while allowing Duke to shoot 51% overall .
