The Georgetown Hoyas continued an awful season in the Big East with an 89-64 loss to #1 ranked UConn at home on Saturday. The loss was the eighth straight loss for the Hoyas, all in the Big East. The Hoyas were led by Dontrez Styles with 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field including three 3-point shots. The game got away quickly for the Hoyas, trailing by 24 points by halftime against the top-ranked Huskies.

“There's a lot of reflection that has to go on. This is our third home game in a row where we're supported at a really high level, so I want to thank our crowd for coming. I'm disappointed we're not delivering on our end from an execution standpoint, from a communication standpoint, from a physical standpoint … Our last three games here we have not played well. Everyone in the organization really has to take a deep dive into what our purpose is. I tell our guys all the time, 'Yo u've gotta give to the game'. When you don't give to the game, it's never going to pay you back. If anything, the energy we showed today and displayed today was not very good. We have a quick turnaround as we go to Creighton in the next 48 hours. We've gotta figure this out in a quick way … I want to make sure that our guys continue to fight, continue to battle, and it's my job to make sure that we get our guys organized.” Hoyas head coach Ed Cooley said after the loss.

Cooley has a long way to go as he tries to rebuild the Hoyas as he previously did in Providence over the last few seasons. The Hoyas come into this game ranked eighth in the Big East in scoring offense this season. They are 10th in field goal shooting overall and fifth in 3-point shooting. The Hoyas are 7th overall in the Big East in 3-point field goals made per game. On the defensive end, the Hoyas are ranked 10th in scoring defense this season. They are 11th in field goal defense and eighth 3-point defense. The Hoyas are eighth in total rebounds per game this season and eighth in turnovers per game this season in the Big East.
