A pair of programs from the ACC take the floor in search of a victory as they collide in the Old Dominion. The Florida State Seminoles are on the road as they travel up the east coast to face the Virginia Tech Hokies Tuesday night. Florida State comes in off an 80-76 home loss to Virginia in their previous contest Saturday, failing to cover the line as a 1.5-point underdog. Virginia Tech was dropped 74-66 on the road by Notre Dame in their previous contest, losing outright as a 5.5-point favorite. In the all-time series between the teams, the Seminoles own a 37-24 advantage and took the first matchup this season, 77-74, at home on January 6.

Florida State battled only to end up falling short at home against Virginia in their previous contest Saturday. The Seminoles enter this game 13-10 overall and stood fifth in the ACC with a 7-5 mark in conference play this season. Against Virginia, Florida State trailed by as many as 10 in the opening half before narrowing the margin to four at halftime. The Seminoles, despite their best efforts, never were able to get even in the second half: they trailed by as many as 12 and were unable to get closer than two the rest of the way. Florida State shot 51.1% from the floor, including two of 16 from three-point range, but allowed Virginia to shoot 50% in the contest. Jamir Watkins had 21 points to lead the Seminoles before fouling out in the loss.

The Seminoles come into this contest averaging 76.6 points per game on the season, leaving them 106th in the country in the scoring offense department. Florida State pulls down 34.7 rebounds per game (243rd) while handing out 12.4 assists per contest. The Seminoles are 254th in scoring defense as they allow 74.3 points per game on the year. Darin Green Jr. is second on the team with 11.7 points per game this season. Jamir Watkins (14 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists), Primo Spears (10.6 points) and Cam Corhen (8.5 points) provide secondary scoring punch.
