Early season non-conference battles continue on Wednesday night when the Evansville Purple Aces (2-0, 1-0 ATS) travel to take on the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks (0-2, 0-2 ATS). Evansville just beat University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy by 70, and beat Miami Ohio in their opener 72-64 as 2.5-point dogs. SE Miss St just got crushed by Butler, losing 91-56 as 19.5-point underdogs. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 EST from the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

Many Division I teams are warming up this season against teams from smaller divisions, just as Evansville did when they played University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. The Purple Aces literally won by 70, and 15 different players on Evansville played ten or more minutes, so that skews their early season stat averages. To get a better feel for Evansville, I will focus on their opening game against Miami Ohio, where they had a solid win as a home underdog.
Against Miami Ohio the Purple Aces, were led by 6'9 transfer Ben Humrichous. He transferred in from Huntington University in Indiana. Humrichous played 36 minutes and went 3-5 from three while finishing with 18 points and eight rebounds. Kenny Strawbridge Jr. was Evansville's top scorer last year, he only had eight against Miami Ohio, but averaged 14.4 PPG last season as a 6'6 guard on the wing. Yacine Toumi is a 6'10 senior out o f France, he had 10 points and five board in the first game. Freshman Joshua Hughes played 17 minutes off the bench and scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
