Eastern Michigan will try to snap its four-game losing streak when it travels to Kent State on Friday night. The Eagles have gone just 3-10 in their 13 MAC games this season, falling to 6-20 overall this season. Kent State is tied with Toledo atop the standings, so it cannot afford a loss on Friday.
Eastern Michigan’s marquee game this season came against then-No. 22 Michigan in early November, when it lost to the Wolverines in overtime after Emoni Bates poured in 30 points for the Eagles. They have struggled for most of the season, starting with a 3-10 record in non-conference play. Their record has not been any better since MAC play began, as they have only picked up three wins in their 13 games. Eastern Michigan is riding a four-game losing streak coming into this matchup, including a 78-51 blowout loss to Akron at home on Tuesday. Bates struggled his way to a team-high 13 points in a terrible showing for the Eagles, who were only 9-point underdogs.

They have struggled on the offensive end of the court this season, ranked No. 215 in KenPom’s adjusted efficiency ratings. Eastern Michigan is shooting just 32.4% from 3-point range and is No. 298 in offensive rebounding percentage. The Eagles’ strength on that end of the court has been their low turnover rate, which they will need to continue against a Kent State defense that is No. 11 nationally in turnover percentage. Bates, a sophomore guard, leads Eastern Michigan with 20.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Tyson Acuff (14.7) and sophomore guard Noah Farrakhan (12.8) are each scoring in double figures as well.
