Creighton at Providence Prediction – Basketball Picks 2/14/23

The Providence Friars will host the Creighton Bluejays in Big East play from the Amica Pavilion on FS1. Providence leads the head-to-head series, 18-14, but Creighton has won the last two matchups.

Creighton moved to 17-8 after beating UConn in Omaha. The Bluejays and Huskies wrestled leads in a low-scoring affair, and the host would slip away with a three-point victory, 56-53. Creighton is scoring 75.9 ppg, while allowing 68.2 ppg, and shooting 47% from the field.

Creighton’s season has been a tale of two tapes, as they’ve  responded to a six-game skid in the Fall by winning eight straight conference games. That’s no small feat in college basketball’s grittiest conference. The Bluejays are 11-3 in Big East play, with a 3-4 record on the road. Ryan Kalkbrenner’s return changed the trajectory of Creighton’s season, and the 7’1 center leads the team in scoring (15.0), while grabbing 6.7 rpg. SDSU transfer Baylor Scheierman nearly double-doubled twice last week in wins over UConn and Seton Hall, and he’s up to 13.2 ppg and a team-leading 8.3 rpg. Arthur Kaluma (12.1 ppg, 6.4 rpg) joins them up front, while sophomore guards Ryan Nembhard (11.4 ppg, 5.1 apg) and Trey Alexander (13.4 ppg) round out the starting lineup.
