Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Los Angeles Kings Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 3-16-2023

Columbus Blue Jackets (21-38-7) vs. Los Angeles Kings (39-20-9)

The 2022-23 NHL season continues Thursday, March 16, with a loaded 11-game slate, including the cross-conference showdown between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.

Columbus and Los Angeles wrap up their two-game regular-season series. Back in December, the Blue Jackets outlasted the Kings 6-5 in overtime as +130 home underdogs. The Kings are massive -275 home favorites this time around, and the totals sit at 6.5 goals.

The Columbus Blue Jackets put an end to their four-game losing streak this past Tuesday. After losing against the Seattle Kraken 4-2, Ottawa Senators 5-2, Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 in overtime, and St. Louis Blues 5-2, the Blue Jackets outlasted the San Jose Sharks 6-5 in overtime as +130 road dogs.

Johnny Gaudreau went off for a pair of goals and three assists last Tuesday, while Boone Jenner scored a couple of goals. The Blue Jackets outshot the Shark 48-32 and fully deserved the victory despite blowing a 5-3 lead in the third period.

“I felt good tonight,” Gaudreau said. “Just a fun game to be a part of there.”

The Blue Jackets are the worst team in hockey with just 49 points out of 66 games. They are 29th in the NHL in both goals for (2.64 per game) and goals against (3.76). Michael Hutchinson is projected to patrol the crease Thursday in LA, as Elvis Merzlikins is out due to personal reasons. Hutchinson is 0-1-1 with a 4.36 GAA and .873 save percentage this season.
