The Colorado Buffaloes are on the road as they make the trip to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Washington State Cougars Friday night. Colorado comes in off a 34-31 home loss to Arizona in their previous contest Saturday, though they did cover the line as an eight-point underdog. Washington State fell 42-39 on the road to Cal in their previous contest Saturday, failing to cover the line as a 2.5-point underdog. In the all-time series between the teams, the Cougars own a 7-6 advantage and have taken the last three meetings. That includes a 41-10 home victory in the most recent matchup on October 19, 2019.

Colorado has watched all the good vibes of their 3-0 start wash away as they have dropped six of their last seven following their loss to Arizona last week. The Buffaloes fell to 4-6 on the season and stand tied for 11th in the Pac-12 with a 1-6 conference mark. Against Arizona, Colorado led 14-7 after the opening quarter, 24-17 at the half and 31-24 after three quarters before running out of steam. The Buffaloes were outscored 10-0 in the fourth quarter, giving up the game-winning field goal as time expired, to take the loss. Colorado was outgained 421-339 in total offense, gave up 22 first downs while picking up 18, while neither team turned the ball over in the contest. The Buffaloes did own a 31:48 to 28:12 edge in time of possession in the loss.

For the year, the Buffaloes are 9th in the nation in passing offense as they average 314.7 yards per game through the air. Colora do is 132nd in the FBS in rushing offense as the team averages 69.9 yards per contest on the ground. The Buffaloes are 45th of the 133 FBS teams to take the field this season in scoring offense as they average 30.7 points a game. Colorado is a dismal 120th in scoring defense as they allow 33.9 points a contest. Shedeur Sanders is 292 of 420 passing for 3,144 yards with 26 touchdowns and three interceptions while adding four scores on the ground. Ryan Staub is one of two for three yards as the backup quarterback. Dylan Edwards leads the team on the ground with 68 carries for 278 yards plus a score this season. Anthony Hankerson (66 carries, 272 yards, TD), Sy’veon Wilkerson (33 carries, 109 yards, two TD) and Alton McCaskill IV (14 carries, 59 yards) have all been in the mix as well on the ground. Xavier Weaver leads the team with 65 receptions for 867 yards and four touchdowns this season. Jimmy Horn Jr. (54 catches, 536 yards, six TD), Travis Hunter (45 grabs, 532 yards, three TD), Edwards (32 receptions, 260 yards, three TD), Omarion Miller (10 catches, 235 yards, TD), Javon Antonio (17 catches, 209 yards, two TD) and Michael Harrison (29 grabs, 246 yards, four TD) are all over 200 receiving yards this season. Alejandro Mata is 22 of 23 on extra point attempts and nine of 11 on field goal attempts with a long of 43. Jace Feely is 10 of 10 on extra point attempts and four of seven on field goal attempts with a long of 49 this season.

McCaskill IV (redshirt) is out for the rest of the season.
