Colorado Rockies vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 9-3-2022

The postseason is off the table, but the games must go on for the Colorado Rockies (56-76) who are in Cincinnati to face the Reds (51-78) for the second contest of this three game series. The Rockies swept the Reds at Coors Field in a three-game series that was played earlier this season from April 29-May 1. Friday's series opener was not complete at the time of this preview.

It's hard for me to understand what the plan is in Colorado. The Rockies are last in the NL West, 35 games out of first place, and on their way to a fourth straight losing season. Colorado also has the third oldest roster in MLB and declined to make any major moves at the deadline. The team has been solid at home, but when it comes to the road, they don't hit well, they don't pitch well, and they lose a lot of games.

German Marquez (7-10, 4.97 ERA) will make the start on Friday. He is 5-5 with a 3.69 ERA in road games. Marquez has also gotten better as the season has moved along. He had an ERA of 6.71 ERA after June 1, but has a 3.49 ERA in his last nine starts.

The Rockies are dead-last in road scoring with 1.8 runs per game over their last 10 contests and have only hit two total home runs in those contests.
