The Colorado Avalanche (32-17-3-1, 26-27 PL, 31-20-2 O/U) meet the Washington Capitals (23-20-4-4, 24-27 PL, 20-29–2 O/U) in an inter-conference bout on Tuesday evening. The Avalanche were hit with a road loss against the Panthers on Saturday. The Capitals lost a home bout against the Canucks on Sunday. Colorado recorded a 6-2 win in the only meeting last month.

The Colorado Avalanche are near the end of a road trip of six games. Colorado is struggling to win games, dropping four consecutive bouts. Their last win occurred in late January. They were dealt a 5-2 road loss by the Hurricanes on Thursday and were horrible in an ugly 4-0 road loss against the Panthers on Saturday. Despite the losing streak, the Avs are two points out of first in the division.

Nathan MacKinnon has been kept in check, recording just three points in his last five games. The 28-year-old captain is having another outstanding season, collecting 85 points. He has five points in the lone meeting against the Capitals. Mikko Rantanen has also hit a bump, amassing one point in his four games this month. The 27-year-old winger is going to hit 30 goals again this year. He has 28 goals and 39 assists on the season. Cale Makar has three points in his last five games. The 25-year-old star defen seman is having another remarkable year, issuing 60 points. He averages 25 minutes of ice per game.

The Avalanche should have Alexandar Georgiev in the net. The 28-year-old netminder is having a shaky season, reporting a 2.94 GAA and an .899 save % accompanied by a 27-13-3 record.  The backup is now Justus Annunen who has only played two games. Colorado is scoring an average of 3.7 goals which continues to lead the NHL. They are conceding an average of 3.2 goals, placing them 20th.
