Cleveland Guardians vs. Baltimore Orioles Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 5-31-2023

The Cleveland Guardians (24-29, 23-30 RL, 16-34-3) meet with the Baltimore Orioles (34-20, 34-20 RL, 27-24-3 O/U) in the last of a three-game series on Wednesday afternoon. The Guardians will send ace Shane Bieber to the mound. The Orioles are expected to counter with Austin Voth. Cleveland earned a 5-0 win on Monday.

Shane Bieber will take the mound on Wednesday afternoon. Bieber was steady in his previous start, limiting a hot Cardinals lineup to only two runs in 6.2 innings, and was credited with the win. The Guardians ace is having another outstanding season. He has gone eight innings in two of his performances this month and is sporting a 3.04 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP accompanied by a 4-3 record in 71 innings on the season. Bieber allowed five runs in 14 innings against Baltimore last season and has a minuscule 1.45 ERA and a 3-1 record in four career meetings. 

Cleveland is on a seven-game road trek. They are having an inconsistent season and have not been able to put together any notable winning streaks. The Guardians have lost three of their last four series but were able to win two of three meetings with the Cardinals this week despite netting a total of only e ight runs.

Cleveland has not produced offensively which is partly due to Josh Bell's disappointing numbers in his first year as a member of the Guardians. The 30-year-old slugger only has three home runs along with 22 RBIs and a .665 OPS. Bell only has one RBI in his last ten games. He went 2 for 6 against the Orioles last season.

The Guardians are scoring an average of 3.45 runs per game, pegging them last in the big leagues. The pitching staff has a solid 3.69 team ERA, placing them fifth.
