Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 8-9-2022

The Chicago White Sox (55-53, 48-60 RL, 48-54-6 O/U) battle the Kansas City Royals (44-65, 50-59 RL, 55-53-1 O/U) in game one of Tuesday’s doubleheader. The White Sox will have veteran Lance Lynn on the hill targeting his third win. The Royals will go with Brady Singer. The White Sox lead the season series 6-5.  

The White Sox will have Lance Lynn take the mound for the 11th time of the year. Lynn was stellar in his previous start, holding this Royals team to just one run in six innings, and was awarded the win to improve his record to 2-4. The veteran right-hander has missed a good portion of the season due to injury. Lynn has been much better in his last few outings after struggling in a big way, but his ERA is at an ugly 5.87 along with a 1.29 WHIP in 53.2 innings of work. Lynn has shut down the Royals, going 7-2 with a 3.30 ERA in 73.2 career innings. 

The White Sox resume an eight-game road trip. They were able to win three of four against the Rangers on the weekend propelled by strong pitching. The squad only trails the Twins by two games atop the AL Central. The offense has been inconsistent all season which continued in Texas, scoring a total of 12 run s. Tim Anderson is serving the last game of his suspension in this game.

Luis Robert has collected six RBIs in 20 at-bats against the Royals this season. The 25-year-old slugger is having a breakout season, recording 56 RBIs accompanied by a .791 OPS in 77 games. Robert has accrued eight RBIs in his last seven games. 

Chicago is averaging 4.31 runs per game, ranking them 17th overall. The pitching staff has posted a 3.90 team ERA, placing them 15th in the Major Leagues.
