It’s an interconference clash on the parquet floor as a pair of teams lock up in the Lone Star State searching for a victory. The Charlotte Hornets are on the road as they make the trip to face the Dallas Mavericks Sunday night. Charlotte was in action on the road against Indiana Saturday night so they close a back-to-back set here. The Hornets fell 128-119 on the road to Houston Wednesday night in their previous game, failing to cover the line as a 3.5-point underdog. Dallas was dropped 125-114 on the road by Denver in their previous contest, failing to cover the line as a six-point underdog Friday night. In the all-time regular season series between the teams, the Mavericks own a 42-23 advantage but the Hornets have won the last three matchups. That includes a 110-104 home win in the most recent matchup on March 26, 2023.

Charlotte was in action on the road against Indiana Saturday night for the front half of a back-to-back set that concludes here. The Hornets entered Saturday 1-3 on the season and stood tied for third in the Southeast Division, 1.5 games behind the Hawks and Magic for the top spot. This marks the first time that the Hornets have played a back-to-back situation this season. Charlotte’s contest against the Rockets marked their first road game of the season, leaving them with a -9-ppg scoring differential (119 ppg for, 128 ppg against) this season in those games. The Hornets are 0-1 against Western Conference teams with a -9-ppg scoring margin  (119 ppg for, 128 ppg against) this season.

On the season, the Hornets are 16th in the league in scoring offense with 113.8 points per game. Cody Martin (knee) played just sev en games last season and has been off the floor since January 14. He remains out with no timetable for return. Frank Ntilkina (leg) is out until late November after breaking his leg in preseason. James Bouknight (knee) had surgery and is expected to be out until mid-November at best. Miles Bridges continues to serve a suspension and is eligible to return to action on November 17 against Milwaukee.
