T Shoe Index Résumé Rankings – CFP Edition
It’s no secret that I’m not the biggest fan of human polls in college football, such as the AP Poll and the Coaches’ Poll. Between biases, lack of conviction in casting votes, and the sheer impossibility that voters have necessarily information to make informed voting decisions – most AP voters cover a specific team, so there’s no way they have anything above a surface level understanding of other teams. Same for coaches.
Tuesday night, the College Football Playoff Committee will reveal its first rankings, and like it or not, these are the rankings that matter because they actually determine the fate of the season (and for what it’s worth, I do tend to think they actually care about getting it right). I want to share with you my T Shoe Index résumé rankings after week 9 to give you an idea of what to expect from the committee to perhaps take some shock factor off as you watch the reveal Tuesday night.
