The Hurricanes are having a great season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.31 goals per game. Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis have scored 35 goals and 63 assists to lead the top two lines but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Martin Necas, Michael Bunting, and Teuvo Teravainen have combined for 43 goals and 58 assists while defensemen Brent Burns and Brady Skjei have added 15 goals and 43 assists from the point to open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has also carried them lately, allowing only 2.88 goals per game with only six goals in the last three games. Brent Burns and Jaccob Slavin have combined for 7.5 defensive point shares and 127 blocked shots while Brady Skjei, Jalen Chatfield, and Brett Pesce have combined for 6.0 defensive point shares to add depth to the unit. The hope is that goaltender Pyotr Kotchetkov can step up as he's struggled with a .902 save percentage and a 2.52 goals-against average on 632 shots with -1.5 goals saved above average.
