Canada's defense kept another tournament clean sheet in their opener with Nigeria. The Canucks maintained clean sheets in every round of last year's CONCACAF Women's Championship until losing 1-0 to the USA during the final. That defense was influential when they won Olympic gold in 2021.
The Canucks have logged plenty of tournament experience. They've only lost one of their last seven group-stage games at the Women's World Cup, a run that includes three wins and three draws. The Canadians have blanked the opposition in five of those seven games. The last time they conceded a first-half goal in the group stage was against France in 2011.
McCabe is Ireland's most significant threat. She's coming up against a tough defense, and it took her a whole game to tally a shot on target in her last match.
Ireland have never played at a World Cup before. Teenager Abbie Larkin was involved in more shots (four) than any other Irish player during their defeat to Australia (two shots, and two chances created). She only played 27 minutes.
