LIV Golf has been operational for nearly a year now, serving as a rival golf tour to the PGA Tour. LIV successfully poached many of the PGA's top golfers, including Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka and others.

With LIV being the PGA Tour& #39;s top competitor, many fans are wondering if LIV golfers will be able to compete at the Masters this week.

Are LIV Golfers Allowed to Play in the Masters?

Yes, LIV golfers can play in the Masters. While they are barred from PGA Tour events, the Masters is a major and not a PGA Tour event. That means LIV golfers are eligible to participate in the Masters as well as The Open, US Open and PGA Championship.

Part of the reason is that former Masters winners have a lifetime exemption for the tournament, meaning they can play in the tournament whenever they'd like. Six LIV golfers have previously won the Masters (Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia and Charl Schwartzel) and are thus always able to play in the Masters even though they're no longer on the PGA Tour.

As for non-Masters champions, LIV golfers who have won a major in the last five years or ranked top 50 in the last year's final world golf rankings are also eligible.
