The 10th-seeded Cal Poly Mustangs and the seventh-seeded Long Beach State Beach will face off on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Big West Championship Tournament in a neutral site game at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada. The Mustangs are a terrible 7-24 (1-18) so far this season and are on a massive 18-game losing streak after a 73-72 overtime home loss on Saturday to the UC Riverside Highlanders. The Beach are holding their own with a 17-15 (11-9) right now and are coming off a 93-92 double-overtime road loss against the UC Davis Aggies on Saturday. The winner of this game will face off against the second-seeded UC Santa Barbara Gauchos in the quarterfinals.

The Cal Poly Mustangs have been brutal and are coming off a 73-72 overtime home loss against the Cal Poly Mustangs. They shot the ball at a decent level from the field as they were 24-of-54 (44.4 percent) overall, 4-of-13 (30.8 percent) from three, and 25 free-throw attempts. Junior guard Brantly Stevenson led the team as in 44 minutes he finished with 32 points, four rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block, and three turnovers while dealing with foul trouble. Defensively, they did a decent job as they allowed 45.8 percent from the floor and 33.3 percent from deep here. Cal Poly did decently well as they finished with seven steals and four blocks throughout the game after forcing 17 turnovers. 

The Cal Poly Mustangs are brutal offensively this year as they are 360th in the nation with 60.1 points per game thus far and shooting a brutal 40.9 percent from the floor and are averaging 10.2 assists per game. Defensively, they are giving up 65.9 points per game, which is 61st in the country. They have been doing decently well at forcing mistakes with 2.5 blocks and 5.5 steals per game thus far.
