The Buffalo Sabres face the Toronto Maple Leafs with both teams looking to build on strong seasons. The Sabres have a 32-28-5 record and are in the middle of the playoff race but hope to rebound after losing four games in a row. The Maple Leafs have a 40-17-8 record and with back-to-back wins, they have the second-best record in the Atlantic Division. Both teams look to improve in the Atlantic Division and the playoff race in the final few weeks of the season and the upcoming game looks to be a great one as a result.

The Sabres are having a promising season with their offense stepping up and scoring 3.65 goals per game. Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner have scored 71 goals and 81 assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Dylan Cozens, Casey Mittelstadt, and Victor Olofsson have combined for 59 goals and 69 assists while defensemen Rasmus Dahlin and Owen Power have added 18 goals and 69 assists from the point to put the offense over the top.

The offense has been great but the defense has let them down this year, allowing 3.62 goals per game including 18 goals in the last four games. Dahlin and Power have combined for 6.7 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net at will. Additionally, goaltender Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has struggled with a .894 save percentage and a 3.54 goals-against average on 911 shots with -10.7 goals saved above average.
