Boise State vs. Air Force Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 10-22-2022

Boise State (4-2 SU, 2-3-1 ATS, 3-0 MWC) travels to Colorado Springs to meet Air Force (5-2 SU, 4-3 ATS, 2-2 MWC) on Saturday at 7pmET.

The Falcons upset the Broncos on the road last season 24-17 as a 3-point dog. Before that, BSU had won four straight games SU.

Boise State has won two straight and four of their last five and is coming off a bye. Air Force crushed UNLV on the road last week 42-7 as a 10-point favorite.

After losing at UTEP, 27-10 on the road on Sept. 23, Boise State fired offensive coordinator Tim Plough and replaced him with veteran NFL coach Dirk Koetter and Broncos' consultant.

At the time, head coach Andy Avalos said, “This was a difficult decision, but I believe it is in the best interest of our program. Our team goals are still in front of us and we are focused on working to accomplish them. Tim is a good football coach and I have no doubt he will continue to positively impact the young men he works with in the future.”

Since that move, the Broncos have amassed 75 points and nearly 900 yards. Right now, it's all about running the football. In their last game on Oct. 8, they crushed Fresno State 40-20 thanks to 316 yards on the ground. That was a closer game than the score indicated as the game was tied at 20-all midway through the third quarter. Then the Broncos too k control with 20 straight points including two field goals from Jonah Delmas. QB Taylen Green threw it just 18 times and passed for 127 yards with two TDs and a pick. George Holani rushed for 157 yards, while Ashton Jeanty added 109 yards and two TDs.

Defensively, this is a tremendous squad. They've allowed just 235.7 yards per game (2nd) and rank first in the nation in passing yards allowed (134.3ypg). They rank 18th against the run (101.3ypg) which is more important when you play an option team like Air Force.

Offensively, Boise State has basically become Air Force. They rank 121st in passing yards per game (152.2ypg) and 38th in rushing yards (185.5ypg) with 27.2 points per game (38th). Geren (330yds passing, 2 TDs, 3 INTs, 229 yds rushing) is a dual-threat quarterback, who has taken over for Hank Bachmeier, who hit the transfer portal.
