Baltimore's defense was hurt by injuries last season and slipped to 25th overall which was its lowest rating dating back to 1997. Baltimore allowed 16 plays of 40 yards or more in 2021-22. Baltimore's defensive line could start without Tyus Bowser who tore his Achilles in the final game last season. However, Odafe Owen played well last season as a rookie with 5.0 sacks. Justin Houston is back after last season making 4.5 quarterback sacks. Calais Campbell re-signed and gives Baltimore a strong presence on the front line.

Patrick Queen is the top linebacker for Baltimore and will play on the weak side, while Josh Bynes is expected to start on the inside. Baltimore's secondary was beefed up with the addition of Marcus Williams and the Ravens drafted safety Kyle Hamilton out of Notre Dame. Chuck Clark will start at strong safety. Cornerback Marcus Peters missed all of last season and Marlon Humphrey played in just 12 of 17 games but both are expected to be healthy to start the season.
