A pair of Central Division teams take the ice in search of a victory in the Lone Star State. The Arizona Coyotes are on the road as they make the trip to take on the Dallas Stars Tuesday night. Arizona comes in off a 7-5 road victory over Nashville in their previous contest Saturday afternoon. Dallas cruised to an 8-3 win on the road over Minnesota in their previous contest Sunday night. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, the Stars own an 8-1-1 advantage and have won the last four meetings. That includes a 5-2 road triumph in the most recent contest between the teams on March 31, 2023.

Arizona has alternated wins and losses in their last eight games as they took down Nashville on the road in their previous contest. The Coyotes entered Monday 7-6-1 on the season and stood fourth in the Central Division, six points behind Dallas for the top spot in the division. Arizona is tied for 11th in the league in goals per game as they average 3.36 goals a night this season. The Coyotes are 12th in goals against as they allow an average of three goals per game on the year. Arizona is 5th in the league in power play success as they convert 29.1% of their chances with the man advantage this season. The Coyotes are 23rd in the league in penalty killing as they successfully navigate 75.5% of their shorthanded situations.

Against Nashville, Arizona was in a high-scoring affair but managed to skate away with a victory thanks to a strong third period. The Coyotes were outshot 18-11 in the opening period of play and skated off down 3-2 on the scoreboard after the opening 20 minutes. After falling behind 2-0 early in game, Michael Carcone got the Coyotes on the board with his fifth goal of the season at 9:58 off an assist from Logan Cooley. Troy Steicher tied the game with his first goal of the season at 14:05 off an assist from J.J. Moser before Nashville struck less than three minutes later to regain the lead. In the second period, Arizona was outshot 10-6 but outscored Nashville 3-1 to take a 5-4 lead at the second intermission. After giving up the opening goal of the stanza to trail 4-2, Clayton Keller made it a one-goal game with his sixth goal of the year, on the power play, at 7:19 off assists from Cooley and Sean Durzi. Alexander Kerfoot evened the score with his first goal of the year at 12:28 off assists from Travis Boyd and Matt Dumba. Carcone gave the Coyotes the lead with his second of the night and sixth of the year at 19 :07 off assists from Moser and Connor Ingram. In the third period, Arizona was outshot 14-8 but outscored Nashville 2-1 to earn the win. After the Predators tied the score, Durzi gave the Coyotes a 6-5 lead with his fifth goal of the season, on the power play, at 16:33 off assists from Keller and Cooley. Nick Bjugstad closed the scoring with his third goal of the season, into an empty net, at 18:33 off assists from Keller and Barrett Hayton. Connor Ingram made 37 saves for the Coyotes, who were outshot 42-25, in the victory. Karel Vejmelka is expected to get the start in goal for the Coyotes in this contest.
