Following Russell Henley's win last week in the World Wide Technology Championship, the PGA Tour heads to Texas for the Cadence Bank Houston Open.
Memorial Park Golf Course hosts the event for the third straight year. The Par 71 plays to 7,412 yards and the renovated course emulates Major conditions with a combination of length and difficult green-side runoffs that reward all-around skillsets of distance, ball-striking, and short game.
World No. 2 Scottie Scheffler tops the field and he finished runner-up last year at 8-under par – 2 shots behind winner Jason Kokrak, who is not playing this year. Sam Burns, Tony Finau, and Hideki Matsuyama join Scheffler as the players in the Top 20 of the Official World Golf Rankings in the field this week as leading favorites along with Aaron Wise.

But beyond the favorites, there are plenty of capable long shots and dark horses that could make a run at the leaderboard and come away with a higher finish or victory on Sunday. 1. Davis Riley (+3700)
Riley finished T-29 here on debut last year and fell back Sunday following a 71. The 25-year-old finished runner-up this spring at a comparable course in Copperhead, and he's a good fit on classic layouts and putts better on Bermuda. He led the field in driving at TPC River Highlands on another tree-lined classic course, and finished top 5 in Texas at Colonial. Riley is clearly ready to improve on last year's finish, and a top-1 0 returns +450 as well.
2. Taylor Pendrith (+4100)
Per Data Golf, Memorial Park is a prototypical average PGA course, but it was the 4th hardest course on Par 5s last year. It was also the 5th hardest course for difficulty around-the-green from the fairway, and there are just 19 bunkers. Pendrith ranks top 10 in this field over his last 50 rounds in Strokes Gained: Total, Off-the-Tee, Ball Striking and Tee-to-Green. He finished runner-up in the ZOZO event last month, and has gained strokes total in 13 straight events since summer with strength around the green and putting.
3. Luke List (+9500)
Luke List is a big hitter who put together his best stretch of golf at this time last year with three top-11 finishes including a win over a long Torrey Pines course. He finished T-11 here last year after opening with a 65 and closing with a 71. If he dials in his long irons, List will move forward as he did with his strong Tee-to-Green and Approach play on comp course TPC River Highlands this year.
