Washington State vs. Boise State Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-12-2022

The Washington State Cougars (1-0, 1-0 ATS, 1-0 O/U) take on the Boise State Broncos (0-1, 0-1 ATS, 0-1 O/U) in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars recorded an 18-13 mark last season and won the season opener against Texas State. The Broncos logged a 24-7 record last year and lost to South Dakota State in their first game. Boise State posted a 58-52 win against Washington State last season.

The Washington State Cougars are looking for progress after a competitive 2021-2022 season. They had a deep postseason run, losing in the semifinals of the NIT Tournament. The Cougars lost several players from last season but had a decent off-season by attracting transfers to help them win more games. They were 11.5-point favorites in a convincing 83-61 home win against Texas State last Monday. 

Mouhamed Gueye is one of the top returning players from last year. The sophomore forward comes in a 6-foot-11 and posted decent numbers for a freshman last year, averaging 7.4 PPG and 5.2 RPG, and amassed 18 points in his first action this season. DJ Rodman is in for a big season. The senior forward enters his fourth year with the squad and averaged 4.7 PPG last year. He was outstanding in the season opener, sink ing 16 points. They brought in Justin Powell on a transfer from Tennessee. Powell played his first year with Auburn. Jabe Mullins is a Saint Mary’s transfer. The junior guard did not play a whole lot with the Gaels, filing an average of 2.9 PPG and netted 13 on Monday. 

The Cougars are currently ranked 62nd in DI in Ken Pomeroy’s college basketball ratings and were voted to finish in 8th place in the PAC-12 preseason poll. Last season, Washington State relied on three-point shooting and averaged 72.3 points on the season, landing them 145th in the country. The defense was a strength, allowing an average of only 65.3 points, placing them at 64th.
