2022 British Open tee times, weather report, props, odds: Tiger Woods starts 3 Thursday afternoon local time from St. Andrews

The Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland, otherwise known as the “home of golf,” hosts the British Open this week for the 30th time, the most of any course in the Open Championship rotation. Tee times have been released for the first two rounds – all players start from the first tee — and Tiger Woods will go off at 2:59 p.m. local time Thursday (9:59 a.m. ET) with reigning U.S. Open winner Matthew Fitzpatrick of England and fellow American Max Homa.

Tiger is a three-time wi nner of the Claret Jug, last in 2005 also at St. Andrews. The par 72, 7,310-yard historic layout most recently hosted the Open Championship in 2015 when American Zach Johnson beat Aussie Marc Leishman and South African Louis Oosthuizen in a playoff – a playoff at the British Open is three-hole aggregate and then sudden death if still tied.

Woods made the cut at both the Masters and PGA Championship but really struggled on the weekend at both, shooting 78-78 at Augusta and 79 on Saturday at the PGA before withdrawing. He didn't play the U.S. Open to ensure good health for the Open Championship, as St. Andrews is one of Woods' favorite courses. He is -175 to make the cut this week and +125 to miss – and +6500 to win. In group betting, Tiger is +170 vs. Keegan Bradley (+175) and Mito Pereira (+175). Per usual, Woods is taking monster action all over the board.'

Defending champion Collin Morikawa (+2500 to win) is joined by pre-tournament betting favorite Rory McIlroy (+900) and Xander Schauffele (+1400),'a winner in his last two starts at the Travelers Championship and last week's Genesis Scottish Open, at 9:58 a.m. ET Thursday.

Caesars also has a couple of parlays with college football: Brian Harman with a Top-20 finish and Georgia (where Harman attended) to repeat as national champion at +3000; and Justin Thomas to win and Alabama (where Thomas attended) to repeat as SEC title game winner at +3300.

Barring something unforeseen, this will be the last time members of the LIV Golf Series will play an event other than on that tour the rest of 2022. I'm actually surprised there's no prop on whether the winner of the Claret Jug is from the LIV Tour, but I also haven't checked every book out there. Dustin Johnson has the shortest odds to win from that group at +3000. Phil Mickelson the 2013 winner, is a +25000 long shot.

Weather is almost always a factor at the Open Championship and will determine wh ether the winning score is double digits under par or even over par – the last British Open over par winner was Padraig Harrington at 3 over in 2008 at Royal Birkdale. Below is the weather report for St Andrews from weather.com. It looks quite decent.
