Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers – 12/31/22 NHL Picks and Prediction

The Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers face off on Saturday in an NHL showdown at the Rogers Place. When these two teams faced off in February it was the Oilers that secured the 4-2 victory. This is the first meeting between these two teams so far this season. 

The Jets come into this game with a 22-13-1 record overall and they have gone 9-7-1 away from home. On Friday against the Vancouver Canucks, the Jets scored four goals, and that was enough to win by two. Mark Scheifele finished with three goals and four shots on goal. The Jets are averaging 3.22 goals while their defense is giving up 2.61 goals per game. The defense is ranked 5th in the NHL and it’s going to need to be the strength here. Josh Morrissey scored six goals and added 36 assists so far this season. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Oilers who sit with a 19-15-2 record overall and they have gone 9-9-1 against the spread. On Tuesday, the Oilers scored two goals and that was enough to secure the one goal victory. Two games ago against the Vancouver Canucks, the defense gave up five goals and that led to the three goal defeat. The Canucks are averaging 3.56 goals while their defense is giving up 3.38 goals per game. Connor McDavid has scored 31 goals and added 26 assists so far this season.
