Vancouver Canucks at Calgary Flames – 12/31/22 NHL Picks and Prediction

The Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames face off on Saturday in a college basketball showdown at Scotiabank Saddledome. When these two teams faced off on the 14th it was the Canucks that secured the 4-3 victory in a shootout. 

The Canucks come into this game with a 16-16-3 record overall and they have gone 9-7-2 against the spread. On Friday against the Winnipeg Jets, the Cancuks defense gave up four goals and that led to the two goal defeat. Andrei Kuzmenko finished with one goal and one assist. The Canucks are averaging 3.43 goals while their defense is giving up 3.83 goals per game. The offense is ranked 7th in the NHL but the defense has been an issue. Elias Petterson has scored 16 goals and added 27 assists. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Flames who sit with a 17-13-7 record overall and they have gone 10-7-2 at home. In the last game against the Seattle Kraken the Flames were able to secure a 3-2 victory. Two games ago against the Edmonton Oilers they were defeated 2-1. The Flames are averaging 3.05 goals while their defense is giving up 2.97 goals per game. Elias Lindholm has scored 11 goals and added 22 assists so far this season.
