Washington State was playing great football for the first four weeks of the season. They defeated ranked teams in Wisconsin and Oregon State, and were ranked as high as 13th in the country. Then the wheels fell off, and they lost their next five games. There was no major injury, or coaching change, the Cougars just started losing games. In their last game, Washington State lost to Stanford as 13.5-point favorites. After the game WSU coach Jake Dickert said, “We’re better than this result. I believe that. So I take that on me. That’s my responsibility to have the team ready in every phase of the game to win.”

Washington State is led by 6'2 junior quarterback Cameron Ward. Ward is 4th in the Pac-12 in passing yards with 2,773 on the season, averaging 308.1 per game. He has a 17-4 TD-INT ratio, but the offense has stalled lately, he has not thrown more than one touchdown pass in any of the last five games. The Cougars have two receivers putting up numbers; 6'0 Kyle Williams averages 72.7 yards per game with four touchdowns, and 5'9 Lincoln Victor gets 71.0 yards per game with another four touchdowns. The Cougars have struggled to get the ground game going, as leading rusher Nakia Watson is only averaging 22.7 yards per game with four touchdowns.

The Cougars rank 8th out of 12 teams in the Pac-12 in scoring with 29.3 points per game, and their defense ranks 7th allowing 28.6 per game. Linebacker Kyle Thornton leads the team in tackles with 69, and defensive end Brennan Jackson leads the team with five sacks. Sam Lockett III is the only player in the secondary with two interceptions on the year. The Cougars defense has nine takeaways over nine games.

Injury Report:

Questionable: RB Dylan Paine (121 rush yards)
