The offense has struggled but the defense has also played poorly, allowing 3.06 goals per game. John Carlson and Nick Jensen have combined for 5.4 defensive point shares but the rest of the unit has struggled, allowing opponents to find open shots on the net with ease. In addition, goaltender Darcy Kuemper has struggled .892 save percentage and a 3.19 goals-against average on 712 shots with -8.6 goals saved above average.
