This year isn't the first time USA and England will face each other at the FIFA World Cup. In fact, these squads have already played two times before in the WC.

The most famous matchup between USA and England happened in 1950. These teams played each other during the group stage of the 1950 World Cup in Brazil, and it was USA that emerged with a 1-0 win.

The victory i s remembered as one of the biggest upsets in WC history. England was a national powerhouse entering that tournament, while USA's squad was composed of mostly part-time players. USA's Joe Gaetjens scored the only goal of contest, which is now referred to as "The Miracle Match" and was the subject of a movie of the same name.

These teams didn't face off again at the FIFA World Cup until 2010. The highly anticipated rematch didn't feature a winner, as the contest ended in a 1-1 draw. England star Steven Gerrard got the scoring going early with a goal in the fourth minute, but USA's Clint Dempsey tied things in the 40th minute, which was the final score of the match.
