The St. Louis Cardinals have been one of baseball's biggest disappointments thus far in 2023. After winning the NL Central in 2022, the Cardinals are in last place in the division thus far. On Monday night, the Cardinals were able to come back to take an 8-6 win over the Nationals for their third straight win. On Tuesday night, hoping to keep the streak alive, the Cardinals got an outstanding performance from Jordan Montgomery to pick up a fourth straight win. Montgomery went seven innings and allowed four hits and a run to pick up his fourth win of the season. Dylan Carlson belted two home runs to lead the Cardinals offensive attack.

The Cardinals will give the ball to Miles Mikolas on Wednesday afternoon to close out the series against the Nationals. Mikolas is 4-4 in 15 starts this season, including five quality starts. His K/9 rate is low this season at just 6.5. Mikolas' WHIP is 1.36 and his ERA sits at 4.36. On the road, Mikolas is 3-2 in eight starts including 3 quality starts. His K/9 rate drops to 5.6, his WHIP rises slightly to 1.38 but his ERA does drop to 3.80. In his last start, Mikolas went six innings and allowed eight hits and six runs in a 6-1 loss to the Mets.

Key Injuries: Cl Ryan Helsley is out.
