Southern Mississippi at Troy – 2/2/23 College Basketball Picks and Prediction

The Southern Miss Golden Eagles will travel and take on the Troy Trojans in Sun Belt action from the Trojan Arena. USM leads the all-time series, 6-1, after defeating Troy by three points in Hattiesburg back in December.

Southern Miss improved to 19-4 after beating Texas State at home. The Golden Eagles outscored the Bobcats in both halves and picked up a nine-point victory. USM is scoring 75.4 points per game, while allowing 63.3 ppg, and shooting 46.1% from the floor.

Southern Mississippi has hit their stride, and after winning five straight games, they have a good chance to secure number 20 here. USM is 8-2 in Sun Belt play, with a 5-4 record on the road. Southern Miss has been powered by a mainstay and a pair of transfer portal signees in Felipe Haase (Mercer) and Austin Crowley (Ole Miss). Crowley, 6’4 guard, paced the team with 24 points against Texas State, and he leads USM in scoring at 17.6 ppg. Haase, a 6’9 forward, scored 16 points in first win over Troy, and he’s second on the team in scoring (14.5) and rebounding (6.8). Three-year starter Deandre Pinckney scored a season-high 28 points in the win over JMU, and he leads the team in rebounding (7.1), while scoring 14.0 ppg.
