They are last in the Western Conference, 25 games behind the Nuggets and Timberwolves for the top spot, 19.5 games behind the Pelicans for the final guaranteed playoff spot and 14.5 games behind the Jazz for the final playoff spot.

Ahead of the trade deadline, the Spurs dealt Doug McDermott to the Pacers for Marcus Morris, a 2029 second-round pick and cash. The team was expected to buy out Morris.
