Pittsburgh Penguins at Montreal Canadiens – 10/17/22 NHL Picks and Prediction

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens face off on Monday in an NHL showdown at the Centre Bell. 

The Canadiens won their first game of the season over the Toronto Maple Leafs, but since that point they have lost two games in a row. Two games ago they lost the Detroit Red Wings 3-0 and in the last game against the Washington Capitals they were beat 3-1. They gave up three goals in the second quarter and that was the difference as they were defeated. Nick Suzuki scored the only goal in that game and finished with two shots on goal. Brenan Gallagher finished with three shots on goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Sam Montembeault saved 26 of the 29 shots he faced. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Pittsburgh Penguins who have won their first two games of the season. The Penguins beat the Arizona Coyotes 6-2 in the first game and in the last game they beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2. Even though the Penguins scored six goals, each of the goals was by a different player. Sidney Crosby had a big game finishing with one goal and two assists. Jeff Carter also finished with one goal, one assist, and five shots on goal. Tristan Jerry finished with 34 saves on 36 shots.
