A pair of Big 12 teams collide on the hardwood in search of a victory in the Lone Star State. The Oklahoma Sooners are on the road as they travel to take on the #6 Texas Longhorns Saturday afternoon. Oklahoma upset #12 Kansas State 79-65 at home in their previous contest Tuesday night, covering the line as a 1.5-point favorite in the game. Texas was upset 74-67 on the road by Texas Tech Tuesday night, losing outright as a 3.5-point favorite, in their previous game. In the all-time series between the schools, the Sooners own a 49-41 advantage but the Longhorns have won the last four meetings, including a 70-69 road win in the first matchup this season on December 31, 2022.

Oklahoma snapped a four-game skid and won for just the second time in their last nine games as they were able to upset #12 Kansas State in their previous game at home. The Sooners improved to 13-13 overall and stand tied for ninth in the Big 12 with a 3-10 mark in conference play. Against Kansas State, Oklahoma led 9-2 early only to find themselves tied at the half. After giving up the opening bucket of the second half to trail by two, the Sooners reeled off a 12-0 run to take a 48-38 lead with 16:32 to play. Oklahoma never let the lead drop below six the rest of the way en route to the win. The Sooners shot 51% from the field, including 11 of 23 from three-point range, and forced 14 Kansas State turnovers in the win. Grant Sherfield led Oklahoma with 22 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the win.

The Sooners have been below average offensively this season, averaging 67.9 points per game on t he year, putting them 274th in scoring offense. Oklahoma hauls down 32.6 rebounds per contest while handing out 13 assists per game on the season. The Sooners are solid on the defensive end of the floor as they give up an average of 67.3 points per game, putting them 113th in scoring defense. Grant Sherfield is one of two players averaging in double figures as he puts up 16.7 points plus 3.4 assists per game this season. Tanner Groves adds 9.8 points plus 6.8 rebounds per game. Jacob Groves (6.9 points), Jalen Hill (10.2 points), Sam Godwin, Milos Uzan, Bijan Cortes, Joe Bamisile, C.J. Noland and Otega Oweh are other key pieces for second-year coach Porter Moser, who came over from Loyola Chicago last offseason. Oklahoma shoots 46.9% from the floor as a team this year, which is 53rd in the nation. The Sooners knock down 6.8 three-pointers a game while shooting 35.5% from beyond the arc. Oklahoma has been slightly above average at the line as they are converting 71.9% of their chances on the season.
