MLB pick today: Philadelphia Phillies ML over Detroit Tigers (-235), 6:40 pm ET
The Phillies will welcome the Detroit Tigers to town for a 3-game series starting tonight. On the mound for the series opener will be Joey Wentz from the Tigers and Aaron Nola for the Phillies, and that offers an immediate advantage to the home team.
Wentz has had a rough first half of the season with a 7.28 ERA in 11 starts, and he's had very little run support in any of those outings. Nola on the other hand, has had a rather mediocre start to the season. His ERA is up to 4.70, but he has faced some of the best offenses recently, which Detroit is not. Despite his struggles, Nola is still the superior pitcher, therefore backing the Phillies to win will be our play.
