Oakland Athletics vs Detroit Tigers Under 7.5 (+126)

Simply put, the Athletics are terrible against left-handed pitching. Since June 1, the A's have a 49 wRC+ against left-handed pitching. Considering a 100 wRC+ is average, the A's have really struggled against southpaws. But besides ranking 30th in wRC+ against left-handers in that time, they also rank 30th in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, OPS and more. However, saying they rank 30th in batting average in that span doesn't express how bad they truly have been. The Oakland lineup has an absurd .161 batting average against lefties in its last 222 plate appearances.

That gets even more ridiculous when you consider that the team ranking 29th, the Mets, have a .214 batting average. The gap between the A's and the rest of the MLB against lefties is enormous, so I'm taking advantage of that when they face Eduardo Rodriguez tonight. As for the Detroit lineup, they're not exactly a juggernaut on offense either. Since June 1, the Tigers have just a .229 batting average — the 4th-worst in baseball. If both pitchers do their jobs, this game shouldn't have more than a few runs.
