Minnesota will try to build on its two-game winning streak when it travels to San Antonio on Sunday night. The Timberwolves are facing the Spurs for the third time in six days, as the teams split the first two meetings. San Antonio notched a 115-106 win last Monday before Minnesota bounced back with a 134-122 win on Wednesday.
Minnesota is off to a solid start in 2022, with its most disappointing performance being its loss to San Antonio in the first of two meetings earlier this week. The Timberwolves’ only other loss came in over against Utah last Friday, but they have won their other four games. They used a strong fourth quarter to get past the Lakers on Friday, keeping Los Angeles without a win so far this season. Minnesota has only been on the road once, picking up a 116-106 win at Oklahoma City last Sunday. Shooting guard Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 29 points on Friday night, shooting 11 of 22 from the floor.

Center Rudy Gobert, who is in his first year with Minnesota, scored 22 points and grabbed 21 rebounds against the Lakers. He has been a difference maker this season, leading the team in rebounds in five of their six games. Gobert is averaging 15.0 points and 15.2 rebounds per game, putting him at the top of the NBA in that category. His success has freed up Karl-Anthony Towns, who is averaging 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Edwards has been the team’s top scorer, averaging 23.8 points. Minnesota comes into this contest ranked eighth in the NBA in scoring (118.) and will be facing a San Antonio defense that is No. 29 (122.0). Bench players Kyle Anderson (back) and Jordan McLaughlin (heel) are both questionable to play on Sunday.
