Miami Marlins vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 7-23-2022

The Pittsburgh Pirates (39-55) will host the Miami Marlins (44-49) in the second contest of a three-game series. The Marlins won the opening game 8-1 on Friday. The Marlins now led the season series 3-2.

If there's any postseason hope left for the Marlins, it's fading quickly. The Marlins opened up the second half of the season with an 8-0 loss to the Texas Rangers on Thursday. They entered Friday ninth in the NL and six games out of the final wild-card spot. Miami did snap its four-game losing streak on Friday but taking care of the Pirates, but they need to be able to carry that momentum and get another win on Saturday if they want to keep pace for a potential wild card spot.

Miami is 24th averaging four runs per game, 19th with 90 home runs, and first with 76 stolen bases. Miami is currently dealing with an injury to Jazz Chisholm Jr (14 HR, 45 RBI, 12 SB). All-Star Garrett Cooper leads the team with a .279 batting average and is second on the club with 40 RBI. Jesus Aguilar (11 HR, 37 RBI), Jorge Soler (13 HR, 34 RBI), and Jesus Sanchez (11 HR, 30 RBI) have all been top power producers.

The Marlins pitching staff is 12th with a 3.82 ERA. Max Meyer (0-1, 8.44 ERA) is scheduled to make his second career MLB start on Saturday.
