Louisiana Sportsbooks Top  Million Revenue For Second Straight Month

Another month, another Bayou-sized beating by Louisiana sportsbooks on the public.

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board reported nearly $52.7 million in gross sports betting revenue Friday as the Pelican State’s 10 mobile sportsbooks aggressively courted and routed the public with their war chests refilled for the start of the year.

Digital operators are allowed a promotional spend of $5 million per calendar year in Louisiana, and the strategy of when to burn that proverbial powder varies from operator to operator given the U.S. sports calendar. The $13.8 million in promotional credits and bonuses doled out in January was an all-time high in 27 months of betting in Louisiana, topping the record of $11.7 million set in January 2022 when mobile wagering launched.

The record outlay helped year-over-year handle surge 22.7% to $346.3 million, the third-largest total in Louisiana State history. It was also 8.1% off the record $377 million established in December.
