After four days and 13 games of action, some competitive, some not so much, we’ve reached the title game of the ACC Tournament down in the Tar Heel State. The fourth-seeded Duke Blue Devils take on the second-seeded Virginia Cavaliers with the tournament title on the line Saturday night. Duke advanced as they took down top-seeded and #14 Miami 85-78 in the semifinals Friday night, covering the line as a three-point favorite. Virginia dismantled fourth-seeded Clemson by a 76-56 score to easily cover the three-point line in their previous contest Friday night. In the all-time series between the schools, the Blue Devils own a 105-40 advantage but the Cavaliers earned a 69-62 overtime win at home in the lone meeting this season February 11.

Duke kept things rolling as they won their eighth straight game by taking down top-seeded and #14 Miami in the semifinals Friday night. The Blue Devils improved to 25-8 overall and ended the regular season 14-6 in the ACC: they look to give Jon Scheyer his first ACC Tournament title in year one as the head coach. Against Miami, Duke led by as many as seven in the opening half and were up five at intermission. The Blue Devils led the entire second half but were challenged as the Hurricanes were within one at 66-65 with 6:58 remaining. Duke stayed calm, reeling off seven of the next nine points to take a six-point lead with 4:13 remaining. They never let Miami closer than four the rest of the way to secure the win. Duke shot 54.9% from the floor, including eight of 16 from three-point range, and hit 21 of 25 at the charity stripe in the victory. Kyle Filipowski led the Blue Devils with 17 points, 11 rebounds and five assists as one of five pl ayers in double figures.

The Blue Devils enter this contest 161st in the nation in scoring offense with 72.9 points per game this season. Duke is 16th in rebounding with 38.9 boards a night and stand 63rd in assists with 14.9 assists per game. The Blue Devils are 32nd in the country in scoring defense by allowing 64.4 points per game. Mark Mitchell is fourth on the team in scoring on the year as he puts up 9.3 points a game. Jeremy Roach (13 points, 3.3 assists), Kyle Filipowski (15.3 points, 8.9 rebounds) and Ryan Young (6.8 points, 5.9 boards) each are good secondary options this season. Jacob Grandison, Jaylen Blakes, Dereck Lively II, Jaden Schutt, Tyrese Proctor, Kale Catchings, Christian Reeves and Max Johns all are important role players for coach Jon Scheyer this season. Duke is shooting 45.2% from the field as a team this season. The Blue Devils are knocking down 6.9 triples a night despit e shooting 33.6% from beyond the arc on the year. Duke is excellent at the free throw line, cashing in a stellar 77% of their attempts on the year, putting them 26th in the nation.
