The Detroit Pistons continued their roster shakeup at the trade deadline as they tried to mold a roster that fits the strengths of head coach Mo Williams. The Pistons send forward Bojan Bogdanovic and guard Alec Burks to the Knicks in exchange for guards Malachi Flynn, Quentin Grime, Ryan Arcidiacono, and Evan Fournier. The Pistons also sent Monte Morris and Shams Charania to the Timberwolves for Troy Brown and Shake Milton. The Pistons also waived guards Joe Harris and Killian Hayes to round out the roster. On Thursday night, despite being significantly shorthanded, the Pistons defeated the Trail Blazers 128-122 in overtime. The win was the second consecutive win for the Pistons, the first time that has happened since October. Jalen Duren had 27 points and 21 rebounds while Jaden Ivey and Cade Cunningham chipped in with 26 points and 23 points respectively.

“A game like this, after everything we’ve been through, losing so many guys, on a back-to-back, to go into overtime and win, that’s pretty cool for a group that’s learning the steps that it takes to win games,” Pistons coach Monty Williams said.

The Pistons should have a full roster on Saturday with all their new players having completed physicals. They hope to win a third straight game for the first time all season if they can upset the Clippers on the road. Detroit is 23rd in points per game thus far on the season. They are 14th in field goal shooting and 22nd in 3-point shooting. The Pistons are also just 28th in the NBA in 3-point field goals made per game. On the defensive end, the Pistons are 27th in scoring defense this season. They are 26th in field goal defense and 24th in 3-point defense. The Pistons are 22nd in total rebounds per game this season and 10th in turnovers per game this season.

Key Injuries: G Quentin Grimes and C Isaiah Stewart are out.
