The Chicago Cubs will take on the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park as both teams are heading in different directions. Chicago had won seven straight games coming out of the All-Star break but lost the opening game of this series, dropping to 40-58 which leaves them among the worst teams in the MLB still this season. The Giants had lost five straight games, and seven of their last ten games, but still had time to turn it around and make a run at the playoffs.

The Giants balanced attack at the plate has led them to among the best in the league, averaging 4.65 runs per game which ranks seventh in the league in scoring offense. The addition of Joc Pederson has been a large one, thanks to his success this season, leading the team with 17 home runs. The right-handed Jakob Junis will get the start for the Giants, he's been dominant this season and one of the better pitchers in the Giants rotation. Junis dealt with injuries early this season but in his first start back since early June, he allowed a run on three hits and struck out two in 4.1 innings of work. Junis has a career 4.64 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, and is in the midst of a career year if he is able to stay healthy.
