Chicago Bears vs. New York Jets Prediction, Preview, and Odds – 11-27-2022

The Chicago Bears (3-8, 4-6-1 ATS, 7-4 O/U) clash with the New York Jets (6-4, 6-4 ATS, 3-7 O/U) in an inter-conference bout on Sunday afternoon. The Bears dropped a narrow road decision against the Falcons last week. The Jets couldn’t generate offense in a road loss against the Patriots in their previous action. These combatants last met in 2018 in a game the Bears won 24-10.

The Chicago Bears are looking to end a four-game losing streak. The last three defeats have been narrow. They lost by three points to the Dolphins, one against the Lions, and last week Chicago was labeled as a 2.5-point dog in a 27-24 road loss to the Falcons. The Bears last win occurred on October 24th in a surprising blowout road win against the Patriots. The Bears have only covered the spread in two of their six road games.

Justin Fields continues to produce. The mobile rookie QB isn’t putting up big numbers in the air, reaching 200 passing yards just once all season but is dangerous on the ground. Fields has collected 1642 passing yards along with a 13:8 TD to INT ratio and has added 833 rushing yards. Unfortunately, he sustained a shoulder injury and has been limited in practice. He is considered doubtf ul. If Fields doesn't play it will be Trevor Siemian under center. The veteran was the starter for a few seasons in Denver earlier in his career.

Khalil Herbert did not play last week as he deals with a hip injury and unfortunately has landed on the IR. David Montgomery will see a majority of the carries. The 25-year-old RB has 501 rushing yards. Darnell Mooney only recorded 29 receiving yards last week. The 25-year-old WR leads the squad with 493 receiving yards. The Chicago offense has definitely been a bright spot in the slide, posting at least 29 points in three out of their last four games.

The Bears' defense has been exploited recently but was decent last week, holding the Falcons to only 280 total yards. They struggled against the Lions two weeks ago, allowing 31 points in that one. The unit stands 9th against the pass but the rush defense is pegged 29th. Chicago is scoring an average of 21.9 points, ranking them 17th. They are conceding an average of 24.9 points, placing them 27th.
