What should college football fans expect in this matchup, and where can bettors find value?

Central Michigan vs Akron Prediction and Best Bet

While neither MAC school has seen much success, Akron is the worse team here. The Zips only score 16 points per game (T-No. 11 7) while allowing an average of 44.4 points (No. 129). There have also already been three occasions where Akron has allowed 50-plus points this season.

While Central Michigan hasn't been lights out either, its losses haven't been as terrible as Akron's. The Chippewas also "only" lost by 19 points to the only ranked team that they've faced (Penn State), whereas the Zips have been outscored by a combined 115-6 in their two games against ranked opponents.

With Central Michigan's offense generating a decent 23 points and 376.4 total yards per game, I can see the Chippewas taking advantage of their opponent's lackluster defense. The Zips haven't given anyone a reason to have much faith in them this season and I fully expect them to pick up their sixth loss in a row.

With Akron being no stranger to blowout losses, I'll take Central Michigan as the 13.5-point favorite, as well as the total hitting over 58.5 points.
