The Calgary Flames face the Buffalo Sabres with both teams looking to improve on rough starts to the season. The Flames are 1-1-1 and coming off a difficult overtime loss while the Sabres lost their first two games but had a nice bounce-back performance in their recent game to earn their first win of the year. The Flames are off to a rough start despite their offense stepping up and scoring 3.00 goals per game. Andrew Mangiapane and Elias Lindholm have scored three goals and five assists to lead the top line but the rest of the offense has stepped up as well. Jonathan Huberdeau, Adam Ruzicka, and Dillon Dube have combined for three goals and five assists while defensemen Noah Hanifin and Rasmus Andersson have added a goal and five assists from the point to help open up the offense.

The offense has been great but the defense has struggled thus far, allowing 3.33 goals per game with eight goals in the last two games.
