BetMGM Partners With Charlotte Motor Speedway For N.C. Access

BetMGM and Charlotte Motor Speedway announced a partnership Friday that will give the sportsbook operator access to North Carolina's sports betting market.'

North Carolina requires operators to partner with professional sports teams, venues, or leagues to gain access. BetMGM's official partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway, coupled with the operator's submitted license application at the end of December, sets up the betting app to go live in the Tar Heel State.'

“We have been eagerly awaiting legal, safe, regulated online sports betting in North Carolina, a state with more than 10 million people and one of the most vibrant sports environments in the country,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said in a press release. “BetMGM's partnership with Charlotte Motor Speedway meets a great demand for entertainment from North Carolinians. Together we will deliver a premier and responsible gaming product that benefits many state agencies.”

BetMGM said in the release that it anticipates the state's mobile sports betting market going live in the first quarter of 2024. That lends credence to the recent suggestion from Governor Roy Cooper that the lottery is targeting a pre-March Madness launch for North Carolina sports betting apps.'
